Part of the work we do as designers is sourcing products for our clients that are truly one of a kind. This is precisely why we started the Liberty Marketplace Artisan Showroom. To find individuals who put their whole heart and passion into their craft. What they do is more than a hobby it’s a true life passion. Finding a real gem and knowing that our goals and hopes for our clients are aligned is also rare. This is how we felt when we met our newest Marketplace artisan!
Karen Bourassa is the maker behind Jules Love Ceramics. Karen studied Fine Arts at the University of Windsor with a focus on painting. She began exploring clay as a medium while on maternity leave with her son, Jules. She quickly fell in love and has since created her own home studio.
Bourassa creates functional stoneware for the home using traditional hand building techniques (pinching, coiling and slab-based processes). This hand-built style lends to organic, one-of-a-kind pieces that fully embrace the marks of the maker.
She aims to create a variety of different forms using a variety of clay bodies, colours and textures that, when paired together create a harmonious aesthetic.
While drawn to classic neutrals, Bourassa also likes to indulge in occasional pops of colour and hints of glamorous gold.
Jules Love Ceramics and Liberty Marketplace have collaborated to bring you the Simply Home by Jules Love Collection." This chic collection combines both traditional and modern visual elements to create timeless pieces for the home. The collection is composed of one-of-a-kind vases as well as a limited edition of mugs, and mixed media abstract paintings.
